Surival of the fittest...??

Two days ago the girls had their one month app't with the doctor. And I really like our family doctor; he has a great sense of humor and a laid-back approach, which I appreciate.

However, when he asked after the girls and feeding he said something to the effect that 100 yers ago Eve would have died. Now, I know full-well this is true. She hasn't once had a successful latch since her birth and therefore is bottle fed, but even though I've thought it - dude - don't say things like that. Overall I don't like thinking about one of my babies being dead.

Ah well. Luckily, I live now, 100 years later, where formula and breast pumps are common place so my little Moon-pie can eat well and thrive.

They're starting to smile at things we do. I know it might be a little early, but I think it's true. There have been a few too many coincidental smiles otherwise. I know it's really helping my husband. Not that he's had issues bonding, but the interaction is really helping him I can tell. And it makes sense. Afterall, I grew them. Obviously my bond is going to be a bit stronger. My patience lasts a lot longer than his, though I have been impressed with how he's gotten better over the past few weeks.

Their smiles melt us. Big Mouth Frog's is big and goofy, just like her and Moon-Pie's is small and quick, making us work harder for it. Golly I'm so very much in love with them. Rather amazing, this whole birthin' babies stuff.
